Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas, headlining Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan, made its way on Times Magazines '10 Greatest Movies of the Millennium' list.

The 2002 film, that stars Madhuri Dixit in a supporting role, stood on a number 8 slot on the coveted list.

The film is an adaptation of the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay novel by the same name.

Made at a pricey budget of $10.6 million, the film had premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

Time's Richard Corliss described the film as a visually intoxicating musical with grandeur the old Hollywood moguls would have loved.

"The plot, based on a 1917 novel, is the good-ol' family-values propaganda, drenched in luscious masochism: rich-boy leaves home, abandons girlfriend and suffers magnificently while dallying with a prostitute. The piece is played with such commitment that the tritest twists and all the dancing in the nine songs seem worth believing. But the fervid emotion is what makes the thing sing. Beyond that, Devdas is a visual ravishment, with sumptuous sets, fabulous frocks and beautiful people to fill them; it has a grandeur the old Hollywood moguls would have loved," said Richard.

"The news couldn't have come at a better time. Devdas completes 10 momentous years...It's a very proud and happy moment for me. For a mainstream Hindi film like Devdas to gain such cinematic recognition and be part of such an illustrious list, is an honor not just for me but for the Indian industry at large ," said Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Bhansali is going to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the film by launching it in a 3D version.

The film's other international accolades include a BAFTA nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, ranked #74 in Empire magazines "The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema", and was also India's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars.

On home turf the film went on to win five National Awards and ten Filmfare Awards, including Best Film.
