Britney Spears asserted her superstar status on the X Factor judges panel on Day 1 of Season 2 auditions in Austin, TX calling out her boss Simon Cowell at one point for being rude.

As to her reported walkout, it never happened.

Britney clarified to her Twitter fans:

"#Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!"

A source told Radar Online that the four panel judges together took a break, but when they returned Britney wasn't with them, choosing to be fashionably late, explaining a picture widely published on the net showing the other three judges watching a performance with Britney's chair empty.

Britney butted heads with Simon when after watching a contestant perform he caustically remarked, "She sounded like she was dead."

"You are so RUDE, Simon," Britney admonished her boss.

We bet Simon loved the retort, not for what it did to his ego, but for what it would do to the show ratings.
