Tabu rocked a Nachiket Barve dress making a somewhat rare public appearance at Karan Johar's birthday party in a swanky Mumbai hotel on Friday, May 25, 2012.
The talent powerhouse from Hyderabad, who will soon be seen in Ang Lee film Life of Pi, wore a bespoke hot pink ombre gown in silk chiffon.
The floor grazing gown, accented with embroidered shoulder straps, featured a scoop neckline and pleating detail at the center of the neck.
She teamed her gorgeous gown with an oversized clutch from the designer's AW2012 collection, dainty diamond jewels and open toe golden sandals from her own closet.

Her hair, parted on the side and styled in tousled waves, was worn over one shoulder.
Her makeup included smokey eyes and glistening pink lipstick. A bold pink blush ensured her face didn't look pale against the vibrant color of the gown. A matching manicure rounded off her look.
Tabu is known to settle for paler or earthern hue clothes but on Friday she decided to play up her hotness and pleasantly surprised the guests at the party.
Tabu is one actress we would like to see a lot more of - on the screen and on the red carpet.
When we complimented Nachiket on Tabu's dress, the young Mumbai based designer proudly told us that we weren't the only ones bowled over by Tabu's styling - everyone at the party complimented her on how beautiful she looked in that dress.
This is the first time Nachiket collaborated with Tabu and he wanted it to be his best work.
While picking the dress, he kept Tabu's status and personality in mind. He didn't want her to wear "something costumey" that would have been more appropriate for an awards red carpet. He wanted her to look stylish yet party appropriate.
We say he nailed it.
On an aside, Nachiket says his designs cater to all age groups and body sizes. He doesn't want to restrict his art to the red carpet only, but wants anyone with a sense of style to be able to afford his designs.
