Prakash Jha and Ajay Devgn will team up for a sequel to their National Award winning cop thriller Gangaajal (2003).

Filming will start in mid 2013.

Before Gangaajal, they will work together in Satyagrah, which additionally headlines Amitabh Bachchan and starts production in December 2012.

Jha is currently shooting for Chakrvyuh. The film's cast includes Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpai, Kabir Bedi, Esha Gupta and Arjun Rampal.

"I will start Gangaajal 2 next year after wrapping up Satyagrah," says Jha. "I've been wanting to take the brand (of Gangaajal) forward for a long time. Right now, I am busy with Chakravyuh, which will be completed in about 10 days," Jha told HT.

Ajay featured as ACP Amit Kumar. The film was inspired by the blinding incident at Bhagalpur, Bihar. The sequel will also be set in Bihar and inspired by real life incident.

Devgn and Jha last worked together in Rajneeti (2010) which also had Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Manoj Bajpai, Arjun Rampal, Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar in the lead roles.

There were reports that Devgn and Jha had a fall out post the film because Devgn was not happy with the way his part in the film had turned out. Devgn pulled out of Jha's next, Aarakshan, at the last minute. He was replaced by Saif Ali Khan.

In August 2011 there were reports that the two had patched up and would work together in Satsang with Katrina Kaif as the female lead.

Devgn first worked with Jha in Dil Kya Kare (1999) which did not do well on the Box-office. Their next films together, Gangaajal (2003) and Apaharan (2005), were commercially successful and critically acclaimed.

Devgn will next begin filming of Sajid Khan's remake of Himmatwala, which will wrap in the winter allowing Devgn to move on to Jha's Satyagrah.
