Shah Rukh Khan is in talks with Panjim, Goa based football club, Dempo, to buy fifty percent of its share.
Shah Rukh, 46, is the co-owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders who won their first IPL trophy earlier this month.
"Shah Rukh has shown interest in Dempo. Talks are still going on and it will take some time to finalize the deal. The modalities are yet to be worked out," Dempo head coach Armando Colaco told IANS Friday, June 1, 2012.
The Dempo owners are also working out details of the deal to use Shah Rukh's image to boost the club's name and earnings through sponsorships.
The club was founded in 1967 as Bicholim Football Club and was bought by the Dempo group of companies in 1968 and have remained the sole owners of the club.
The club works with a budget of Rs 12 crores and is valued at 50-60 crores. The team plays at Fatorda Stadium in Margao, Goa. Players wear a blue jersey on home turf, white when playing outside the country.
The team has won many national and international accolades in its 44 years of existence.
Their current team includes home talents as well international names including Densill Theobald of Trinidad, Koko Sakibo of Nigeria and the most recent to join the team is Ryuji Sueoka of Japan.
