The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) has been pushed back by a day to accommodate Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra's IIFA engagement.

The world premiere of Shahid and Priyanka's film, Teri Meri Kahaani, is the highlight of the festival and the films headlining stars part of the opening act, so the organizers want to make sure Shahid and Priyanka arrive in Melbourne well before the festival's opening.

The festival was to open on June 10, but Shahid's IIFA duties as host don't end till June 9; because Melbourne is 3 hrs ahead of Singapore, Shahid and Priyanka would have had very little time between arrival in Melbourne and festival kick off.

The Festival will now open on June 11.

"We had committed to open the festival on June 10, but it clashed with another tie-up we had with the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards in Singapore," said Vicky Bahri, producer Teri Meri Kahaani.

"Due to the time difference, we will reach Melbourne only by 7.30 pm on June 10. It would be difficult to make it in time for the opening ceremony, which was going to be presided over by the Premier of Victoria, Ted Ballieu," he added.

Teri Meri Kahaani will have its world premiere as the closing film of the event on June 22.

Vidya Balan is the official ambassador of the festival. She will be attending IFFM along with director Raju Hirani and designer Sabyasachi.
