Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh Headlining 'Ram Leela' Will Blend Artistic & Commercial Cinema

Sanjay Leela Bhansali returns as director with his next project tentatively titled Ram Leela headlining Kareena Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
Bhansali's critically acclaimed 2010 film Guzaarish, headlining Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, bombed at the box-office, prompting him to take a break from directing and focus instead on producing films that appeal to the masses.
Prabhu Deva directed Rowdy Rathore, headlining Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, which releases in theaters this weekend, is the first of three commercial films from Bhansali's production company and he is unapologetic about the film's non cerebral nature.
"I did not want to be the only person in the theater watching my own films," Bhansali says.
Bhansali doesn't intend to give up on his brand of cinema.
"With Ram Leela, the audiences will get to see the Bhansali of Devdas," Bhansali told the TOI.
"It will be a blend of the artistic and the commercial," he adds.
As to the unusual Kareena - Ranveer pairing, Bhansali says, "They are both extremely spontaneous actors and are a delight to watch together."
The film, which will feature 11 songs and great locales, will start production in end July.
This is the first time Kareena, 31, Ranveer, 26 and Bhansali are working with each other.
