Sonakshi Sinha, Akshay Kumar Back Together |
The sequel to Milan Luthria's 2010 hit Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, headlining Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan will start filming on August 1.
The sequel is titled Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again. The first filming schedule will be reportedly shot in Oman.
Producer Ekta Kapoor says, "the final draft of the script is currently being worked on."
The original film featured Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Prachi Desai.
The male centric film is a gangster drama laced with intense romance.
Akshay, 44, is to play the role of Shoaib Khan (Dawood Ibrahim), and is described to have three different looks in the film. His first look was revealed on TV channel Aapka Colors.
In December 2011 it was announced that Shahid Kapoor will play the second lead but he dropped out of the film.
In March 2012, Imran Khan was finalized as second male lead, in a role based on real life gangster Aslam.
Many female actors names made the rounds for the lead role, including Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut. In April 2012, it was reported that Sonakshi Sinha will play the female lead in the role of Mandakini.
There were reports recently that Deepika Padukone has agreed to play the other female lead in the film. The actress and her rep did not reply to our emails and text.
This will be Sonakshi, 24, and Akshay's third film together after Joker and Rowdy Rathore .
On another note, much before its production begins, the film is being flooded with association offers from brands. Almost 18 brands are vying to be part of the film because of the surfeit of machismo that will be on display in it.
"We are glad with the incredible interest that brands have shown in our keenly awaited sequel. While all our films are hot-beds for brand integrations, the level of excitement that OUATIM-2 has garnered is unprecedented," confirmed Ekta.
"We will stay true to the film and its storyline. Milan (Luthria) has advised us that he will incorporate 5 or 6 brands at best therefore we will be extremely careful in our selection. As the final draft of the script is currently being worked on, we can incorporate these brands in the narrative seamlessly," she added.
