Remake Shelved - Dirty Dancing

Nobody puts Baby in a corner, but that hasn’t stopped Lionsgate from shelving its proposed Dirty Dancing remake.
Shocking, we know.

The problem? Well, according to Deadline snoops, the studio and director Kenny Ortega are finding it much tought than anticipated to recast the roles of Baby and Johnny — parts immortalized by Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in the 1987 original.
Whispers of a Dirty remake first surfaced in 2009 — that’s when Lionsgate commissioned Uptown Girls writer Julia Dahl to pen a script. It took two years, but Dahl finally cranked out the necessary copy.
Ortega promised cinema fans the chance to “Have the Time of Your Life” all over again. After all, he choreographed the original film and also worked on Michael Jackson’s posthumous concert film, This Is It. He vowed that his remake would incorporate classic songs from the 1960s and hits from the first Dancing.

“The opportunity to direct Dirty Dancing is like returning home for me. Growing up in the 60s on the dance floor helped define me as a person and as an artist…Patrick Swayze set the bar for men dancing in the movies as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire did before him. I believe everywhere you look there is evidence that the talent is out there and I can’t wait to begin the process of discovering the next breakout triple-threats.”

This certainly isn’t the first time Dirty Dancing has been reworked for the silver screen. In 2004, the movie was the subject of Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, an ill-received prequel that featured a cameo by Swayze. In 2010, Dirty Dancing 3: Capoeira Nights made it’s debut straight-to-DVD.
The movie is off the Lionsgate schedule until at least 2014. Any thoughts on who could play a convincing Baby and Johnny? Justin Timberlake and Lea Michele perhaps?

Carrie Underwood Stands up for Gay Marriage

Country music superstar, Carrie Underwood, is voicing her opinion in support of gay marriage.
The Blown Away songstress is standing up for what she believes is fair. “As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry,” she said. “I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.”
Underwood, who has never been shy about her strong faith went onto say that she and her NHL star hubby, Mike Fisher, now worshup in a non-denominational church. “Our church is gay friendly,” she said. “Above all, God wanted us to love others. It’s not about setting rules, or [saying] ‘everyone has to be like me’. No. We’re all different. That’s what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It’s not up to me to judge anybody.”

Tony Award 2012 Winners

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the 66th Annual tony Awards, live from New York City.
The night, which honors the best on Broadway, featured great performance from the cast of Once, Evita with Ricky Martin and The Book of Mormom with an appearance by host, Neil Patrick Harris. Hugh Jackman also took home a very special award last night, honoring his humanitarian efforts.

The glare of the Hollywood limelight can be a killer for any kid.
Take Paris Jackson, for instance.

The only daughter of “Thriller” hitmaker Michael Jackson was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Network over the weekend. Under the watchful eye of the Queen of Talk, Paris opened up about being bullied at school and revealed that she often has to deal with “drama” from her classmates.
Paris was homeschooled before enrolling in a private school outside Encino after her dad’s death in 2009. She told Oprah during last night’s broadcast of Oprah’s Next Chapter that the change made her life “more normal.”

“The social life has gotten better. I mean there’s drama, but I try to stay away from that…At school and some people try to cyberbully me. They try to get to me with words, but that doesn’t really work.”

Making new friends often proves challenging, the 14-year-old confided:

“A lot of people don’t like me. I don’t know what it is. If I feel someone’s being fake to me, I will just push away.”

Paris just finished filming a role for the film Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys, due out next year and told Oprah she loves acting.

“Acting’s always been my passion. I just love it and I think that it’s amazing.”

Maria Menounos Opens Up

Extra tv host and former Dancing With the Stars contestant, Maria Menounos, is opening up about a dark place in her past.
Menounos opened up this morning while appearing on The Howard Stern Show, talking about how she had suffered multiple sexual abuse incidents. Maria gave an example of seeing a doctor for a throat condition. At that exam she was forced to undress completely and the doctor touched her genitalia. “I was really young, so I was so uncomfortable,” Menounos said, adding, “I literally started screaming… I was just so uncomfortable; I didn’t know what to do.”
Menounos said that she still asks her boyfriend to accompany her to all of her doctors appointments.

Selena Gomez Returning to Music, Hopes to Work with Taylor Swift

Selena Gomez plans to return to music and start work on her fourth album by the end of the year.
In February, Selena had announced that she was parting with her band, The Scene, and taking a break from her music to focus on her films career.
At the recent launch of her fragrance at Macy's Herald Square in New York, Taylor Swift revealed her future plans to MTV News.
"I finished three movies this year, so I'm very happy about that, because it's exactly what I wanted: I wanted to do film for a little bit," she said. "But I am missing music, so we're going to start on the fourth record at the end of this year."
Selena says she wants her new album to be very different from her third studio album, When the Sun Goes Down, which dropped in June, 2011.
"Very different! I want to go for producers that probably wouldn't want me to do their songs," she said. "I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with Fun. I want to work with just different styles of music."
Besides working with new producers, Selena also wants to collaborate with good pal Taylor Swift to explore new sounds
"I also want to work with Taylor [Swift] too. So I just want to do different things for this album," she said. "By the time it comes out, I'll almost be 21, so I want to be able to — wow, that sounds really scary! I want it to be older."
Selena will turn 21 on July 22, 2013.
Maybe she will celebrate the occasion with the release of her new album, or may be not? But there is something else that would definitely want to do.
"I'll be actually able to order a drink, so that will be cool, I guess," she said. "I think I'll have a big party with my family and have people come out, because I don't really celebrate birthdays."

Matthew McConaughey And Camila Alves Got Married

They did it! Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have got married after six years together, during which they managed to give birth to two children – a son Levi and a daughter Vida.
The engagement between the 42-year old actor and his 29-year-old beloved was announced in December last year.
The wedding took place in Texas yesterday. After the ceremony, the guests had a great time. The tables with refreshments and drinks were covered under the tents. By the way, Camila decided to change the last name, so now she will be McConaughey, rather than Alves. The rights to wedding photos were bought by the People magazine, which promises to publish them in the next issue.

Jessica Chastain wore an incredibly sheer Mario Schwab dress at the 66th Annual Tony Awards at Beacon Theatre, New York City on Sunday, June 10, 2012.
The Help star, one of the presenters at the Awards, wore a number from the designer's Fall 2012 collection.
Her nude long sleeved dress ending at the knees was embellished with Swarovski crystals placed strategically to safeguard her modesty, letting the sheer fabric tease a lot of skin. The dress had a visible built-in corset for support.
She wore the dress the way it was presented on the runway without any improvisation or inner layering. Not known for risque red carpet styling, the actress sure turned many heads but it was a tasteful show of skin. More than anything, Chastain made the style her own and lapped up all the extra attention her dress brought her.
Her silver satin Giuseppe Zanotti heels and Harry Winston vintage jewels echoed the graceful silhouette of her dress.
Super glossy flame hair, parted in the center and styled in structured curls, was left down.
She wore pink lipstick, smudged liner on the top lashlines, metallic eyeshadow and swipe of peachy blush complimenting the color of her hair.
The beautiful actress has been announced as the face of Yves Saint Laurent new fragrance, Manifesto. This is her first endorsement.

Shahid, 31, and Priyanka, 29, were promoting their upcoming film Teri Meri Kahaani at the event. They danced to song 'Jabse mere dil ko Uff' from the film.

Shahid was also the host of the show along with Farhan Akhtar.

Ranbir Kapoor Signs A Pair of Films With The Kashyap Brothers

Wondering what the Saawariya guy doing next? Ranbir Kapoor is almost ready to shoot for Abhinav Kashyap's Besharam followed by Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet.
Ranbir, 29, had liked film scripts of both brothers, but the Kashyaps left it to the actor to decide who will get his dates first.
"Ranbir had informed both Anurag and Abhinav that he would start work with whoever presents him with the final script at the earliest," a source told the Mumbai Mirror.
Abhinav was the first to produce a bound script, and Ranbir was more than happy to green flag the project, adds the source.
Our man Ranbir plays a thief who steals the heroine's car. The leading lady has not been finalized yet. Names of Alia Bhatt (Mahesh Bhatt's younger daughter and Student of the Year star) and Parineeti Chopra (Priyanka Chopra's cousin) have been doing the rounds.
Filming will start at the end of 2012.
Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet will begin production in 2013. Anushka Sharma plays the leading lady in the film.
Knowing Ranbir Kapoor's popularity with the ladies, (Sonam and Deepika are his exes) we're curious to know what the chemistry with Anushka Sharma will be like. :)
