The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby
The first trailer for the writer-director-producer Baz Luhrmann’s ambitious, big-budget 3D remake of The Great Gatsby has finally made its debut. Are we getting our first look at another vibrant cinematic event up there with Luhrmann classics like Moulin Rouge! and Romeo and Juliet?

Filmed in Sydney late last year, the latest big screen adaptation of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel stars Leonardo DiCaprio as the enigmatic, party-throwing millionaire playboy Jay Gatsby, the epitome of the roaring 1920s. Tobey Maguire is would-be writer Nick Carraway, captivated by Gatsby and his lavish world. Carey Mulligan comes aboard as Daisy Buchanan, Nick’s cousin and Jay’s “The One That Got Away.” Daisy is unhappily married to Tom Buchanan, as portrayed by Joel Edgerton.
Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke round out the supporting cast. Costumes and production design were put together by Luhrmann’s double-Academy Award-winning wife Catherine Martin.
Also creating a buzz about the big budget blockbuster is the music that accompanies the period piece — listen up for Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “No Church in the Wild.”
