Gospel legend Cissy Houston will pay homage to her late daughter, pop’s own Whitney Houston, in a tell-all tome to arrive on booksellers’ shelves in February 2013.

The publishing heavyweights at HarperCollins have reportedly inked a seven-figure deal with the elder Houston for an untitled memoir that promises to reveal the “unabridged and unbelievable story” of Whitney Houston — who was found dead in a bathtub at the Beverly Hill Hilton in February. The tome will also to tackle some unpleasant topics including her daughter’s struggle with addiction and her turbulent 14 year marriage to R&B bad boy Bobby Brown.
Cissy confirmed news of the book deal in a statement released by HarperCollins on Tuesday:
“When I lost my daughter Nippy, the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter’s true story.”
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, where Whitney sang as a child and Cissy has lead the choir for more than 50 years.
Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, will join Cissy in a new TV reality series headed for basic cable later this year. Lifetime has ordered 10 hour-long episodes of The Houston Family Chronicles.
